Lindsey and I took a trip into the District today and decided to check out the orchid show at the National Botanical Gardens, cameras in hand. I ended up getting some pretty good shots despite the rare shafts of good light. Here’s the first batch:

I took some photos today on my walk home from the metro and I decided to capture the grungy feeling of the walk – dirty snow banks still lingering around, cloudy day, train tracks, and a power plant billowing smoke, etc.. I also got really grungy with the editing which was fun.

Seriously, we got another 10 inches or so today and according to the National Weather Service, we had “blizzard conditions” and were told that going outside could be fatal. Lindsey and I hit up the National Archives yesterday and I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots of the founding documents. Keep in mind that there was no flash photography allowed so I was shooting wide open which accounts for the complete lack of depth of field in these shots.
