I was better today; I was more conventional today.

I was caught off guard today when, at a job interview, I was both praised for my photography website and labeled an iconoclast (which is probably pretty accurate) for my recent “Jesus cuts his apples with a lightsaber” photo.  I was both amused and mortified.  Fortunately, my interviewer was not offended and seemed to have a good sense of humor if not an appreciation for irreverence.  That being said, I decided to make today’s photo(s) less controversial/more conventional.

Lindsey, who has a blog that focuses primarily on the sweeter side of the DC food scene, took me to a local confectionery called Artfully Chocolate.  In addition to sampling their treats, I was responsible for photographing the scene for her blog so I decided to utilize the opportunity for my photo of the day project.  Lindsey chose this place specifically for a cupcake they no longer carry but was delighted by the assortment of strange and exotic flavors of gourmet hot chocolates.  I was especially pleased by the colorful decor but my hot chocolate was pretty fantastic as well.  I am breaking the rules and more than one photo today.  Deal with it.

I was especially pleased with how the shots of the storefront turned out.  I had to set the camera up on a tripod and do a longer exposure because we had no sunlight and very little light from the streetlights.  I think they have a kind of vintage look.  Enjoy.
