I’ve considered starting a blog on more than one occasion but it always seemed like too much work. Lately, however, I’ve been sitting at work with way too much time on my hands which I generally spend searching for interesting things on the internet. Today I decided that I ought to contribute to the bank of interesting things.
My initial urge was to simply create a blog to showcase some of my photography and/or graphic design work but I got to thinking that I should probably not restrict how I express myself creatively. In fact, I have lately found myself missing writing, or at least writing fun things which I have little opportunity to do now that I’m in graduate school. In my under-grad I had the freedom to come up with and write about ideas such as the lost cause myth in Bobbie Ann Mason’s Shiloh or quantum physics in the poetry of Wallace Stevens (a claim I recently discovered has been substantiated by real literary scholars).
While I’m still fairly creative through photography and graphic design, I feel like I am not utilizing my creativity like I once did through random writing, poetry, essays, and even random crafts. So I decided that this will simply be a creative outlet for me and I hope it becomes something that others stumble upon and find interesting.
