I’ve never had much luck with lightning shots. I usually either wait too long to get the camera out or I’m on the wrong side of my building to witness the best stuff but we recently had a nice storm and lightning was just everywhere. The rain was blowing pretty hard and I was feeling pretty lazy so I was reluctant to bust out my SLR, tripod, remote shutter release, and rain cover so I just grabbed my old point and shoot, stuck it on a Gorillapod and attached it to the balcony railing. I adjusted my ISO to the lowest setting, put the aperture at a relatively high setting, put the shutter speed at around 8 seconds or so, and set the camera to take 10 photos with a 2 second delay. It worked out pretty well and I got some decent shots. Obviously they aren’t as sharp as they would be with my SLR and they’re a bit noisy but I was pretty pleased with the results given the minimal effort. I can’t, however, decide if I like them better in color or black and white.
Nice! I like the color ones… go figure!
